Just over an hour’s drive south of Melbourne is the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Seaside towns meet local wineries – It is home to over 50 cellar doors, impressive restaurants, picturesque bayside villages and stunning coastline walks. It’s easy to see why it’s a playground for Melbournians.
We took the time to wander along Mt Martha Beach North and admire the iconic beach boxes that line the golden strip in all their different colours and sizes. Victoria is known to have beautiful, colourful beach boxes like these ones scattered along the coastlines.
There are the Brighton Beach boxes that are in pristine condition and adorned year-round with tourists trying to take the perfect shot. I do love those. But these ones in Mount Martha on the Mornington Peninsula appeal to me more. Due to severe erosion washing away the shore over the last decade, they have been slowly worn away by the sea and storms. They are a lot like me. I’m not perfect and pristine like the Brighton boxes. I can look a little disheveled at times, so it was natural for me to be more drawn to the raw beauty of these Mt Martha boxes.
We spent a blissful morning relaxing at the award-winning Peninsula Hot Springs, a coastal oasis that’s a perfect setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. Enjoy the natural thermal mineral waters flow into the pools and private baths across the Spa Dreaming Centre and Bath House.
We decided to spend our day at the Spa Dreaming Centre where you’ll find tranquil spaces, private and communal pools and an array of pampering spa treatments to revitalize your body, mind and spirit. We treated ourselves 1hr relaxation massages and enjoyed the steam/sauna rooms and thermal mineral pools. My favourite is the barrel bath and the Moroccan hammam steam room
If you prefer a more social, family -friendly bathing experience then the Bath House is perfect with over 50 bathing experiences to choose from and the hilltop pool with stunning 360 degree views of the region. The perfect social bathing experience for friends and family.
We headed further south to Sorrento, a popular coastal town on Mornington Peninsula. Sorrento Village is full of many interiors and fashions stores. The biggest fashion retailers have a store here along with galleries where you can pick up gorgeous homewares for your home.
Eat & Drink
Montalto – A gorgeous place to eat at. It was the perfect lazy lunch in the middle of the Peninsula. We dined at Montalto Piazza, a casual vineyard restaurant with stunning vineyard views.
Tucks – located next door is Tucks Winery where you will find a very playful winery experience. We did some delicious wine tasting that was also fascinatingly educational. Tucks also do delicious picnics that you can have with your furry friend as dogs are welcome!
The Baths Sorrento – We enjoyed a delicious lunch at this bright and airy restaurant situated right on Sorrento Beach. The menu is delectable, views are gorgeous and the atmosphere is relaxing. It offers a unique dining experience in a beautiful location.
